Dr. Özcan began his career in Dentistry at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, after attaining his Bachelor of Science Degree with an Honours in Biology there as well. After attaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1991, Dr. Ozcan completed a one year General Practice Residency in London at the University of Western Ontario. Following a year of general practice in his home province of New Brunswick, Dr. Özcan spent the next four years completing his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Sinai/Grace Hospitals in conjunction with the Detroit Mercy Medical School in Detroit, Michigan.
Following completion of his specialty, Dr. Ozcan relocated to Prince George in 1997. In addition to enjoying his practice here for the past 24 years, Dr. Ozcan has established satellite practices in Fort St. John and Terrace as well. Dr. Ozcan is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, providing treatment both in private practice and within the provincial health care system, and specializing in the extraction of teeth, placement of implants, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the head and neck, as well as performing jaw surgery. Fully certified by the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, Dr. Ozcan’s office is an annually inspected deep sedation facility.
Dr. Özcan is a member of both AAOMS (American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons), and CAOMS (Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons). He is also the Division Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UHNBC (University Hospital of Northern British Columbia). Dr. Ozcan additionally participates in the teaching and mentorship of students in the Northern Medical program, as well as dental assisting and hygiene students from the College of New Caledonia in Prince George. Dr. Özcan has lectured in Canada, the United States and Europe on various Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery related topics.
